Organs and tissue around organs like the peritoneal membrane (the lining of our abdominal cavity) can form scars. This can happen after surgery, infection or anything else than can cause injury.

It is a huge problem today as there is little we can do to prevent it and it can cause extreme pain and sometimes even organ failure as the scar can stop the organ working properly. It costs the NHS over £50million each year to treat people with this type of scarring.

So yes I would say it is a very large issue and is worth studying.
