• Question: whats more important, oceanography or curing cancer... ?

      Wow, tricky question. I guess the question is why do we as a society spend money researching things other than cancer (or any other life threatening disease)?

      I guess people will have lots of different answers to this perhaps depending on what area of science they are in. I work in an area of science closely connected with climate change. The work I do will help us to better understand, and then hopefully act to reduce the effects of global warming. The effect on people around the world from global warming could be very serious.

      So I think cancer research is very important, but so are many other things, and It’s good that our society has scientists working in many areas.
