Being an oceanographer is great! Oceanographers do lots of different things, some look at fishes and other marine life (‘marine biologists’), but I’m a physical oceanographer, which really means I’m a physicist who studies the sea.

Mostly I do similar things to other scientists, I make measurements and use them to try and learn something about the world. The exciting bit is that I make those measurements at sea, spending a few weeks living onbaord a large ship and floating around in the middle of the ocean, or somewhere even better like the coast of Antarctica!
