A solar cell is a bit like a battery, except it’s powered by sunlight rather than chemicals.
It’s an electrical device, which when it’s dark doesn’t do anything, but when the sun shines on it it produces electricity. Just like a chemical battery is made out of lots of little cells, we wire together solar cells into a long string to make the voltage higher and call this a solar panel.
