• Question: What will you acomplish from finding out animal body clocks

      Hi there! I find body clocks very interesting, they are really complicated and lots of processes are involved – different genes and proteins that work together and lead to changes in how the animal (or plant, bacteria etc etc) reacts and behaves.

      We’re still only getting to understand the basics of how the body clock works and that is what I’m involved with. Once we understand that, then we can start focussing more on the medical side of things – it is possible that understanding the body clock will help us understand and hopefully prevent certain diseases. For example, heart attacks and strokes (I think) frequently happen in the middle of the night. Those are just a couple of examples though, I’m sure lots more are out there and hopefully what I’m doing now will help others to understand them in the future!
