I think it is amazing that we can use physics to look back to a time very close to the beginning of the universe. It is especially amazing that we have been able to create theories about how the universe began (“the beginning of time”) and then find observations that we can use to test these theories, for example the “cosmic microwave background radiation”.
There are still mysteries about the exact beginning of time/the universe, but physics has given us a pretty good understanding of the universe from a fraction of a second after it began until now.
Time is infinite, it has no beginning or end. There was always time and has always been time.
I don’t think it started with the big bang or any other event. I think that it has just always existed as there has to be a concept of time before the big bang (ie what was around before the big bang? Thats still a concept of time)
