Hmmm, I like lots of films, and I really like good sci fi films. Trouble is, most sci fi films are rubbish!
I think my favourite film is probably Aliens, with Sigourney Weaver. I saw it when I was younger and it’s stayed my favourite film for ages. There have been loads of films I’ve enjoyed recently, but from a sciencey angle, I really enjoyed Sunshine, Danny Boyle’s film about the Sun stopping.
Yeah, Sunshine was great!
I think my favourite is probably Donnie Darko, I saw it just after I came to university, and it was so weird & strange you had to watch it multiple times to figure it out!
The Big Lebowski is another great film you can just watch again and again…
The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was another great one, but I haven’t seen it for years.
Ha, I was watching Clerks the other week- amazingly that was the first time I had seen it. From a science perspective- GATTACA wins my vote. Check it out if you havent seen it-w as released in the 90s predicting what the future might be like if we had crazy sequencing technology and describes a world where your DNA determines your social status. Whats impressive is taht the technology that it talks about in this movie is so close to reality now its not funny!
Other movies- I quite like Stanley Cubricks films, the shining, Full metal Jacket, 2001 space odyssey, Clockwork Orange. Hmmm, I might watch some this weekend!
