      Yes! It’s never boring.

I think that’s the big thing for me for a career in science. It’s frustrating, hard work, often lonely when you’re working on something by yourself, not particularly well paid compared to your education, but at least you never have to be bored!

YES! But a lot of this is due to the people I work with.

I have lots of friends at work and its lots of fun. I can make my own working hours and schedule my work how I want to do it. I get to travel a lot to conferences and then you have a great excuse for a holiday right after which is a lot of fun and a cheap holiday. I get to spend some time taking part in competitions like this one or going to schools and science festivals with activities like Non Fiction Science (This is on my profile) or the Egg and Sperm Race (I can tell you more about this if you want).

Yes, most of the time. Science is often about figuring things out and puzzle solving, and I find these things really enjoyable. Also, as Vicky says, a lot of really nice people work in science so the social and teamwork side of things can be really good.

As in any job, sometimes it is stressful, and sometimes boring (I had a really boring meeting yesterday that seemed to go for hours), but mostly it’s great!
