pasha7- you make me feel inadequate as a man (25 and can do 60kg tops) jj :). I think muscle building is a fine art, admittingly I am not too knowledgeable on the area (as much as I would like to be). Since your still young and something to keep in mind- I have heard that for teenagers whose bodies are still growing, training can be slightly different than to a developed adult (which can be an important point as a lot of stuff you read on the internet is based on the latter). Also, there is only so much muscle you can actually create in a year (although there is some variation between the actual amount between people), as such, body building or muscle gain is a process that takes a while or period of years (depending on you goal). Make sure you do have rest periods between work outs as the muscle needs this, repairs quicker, and will allow you to build muscle faster in the long run. Keeping a record of your training habits is also pretty good as this gives you an indication of your improvement and whether you are hitting a platueo. Unless you are training for a specific sport, mixing up your training regimes with a vairety of exercise is great. Don’t forget to build your leg muscles too- being top heavy with string bean legs is not a good look.
I’ve been using a 12kg kettlebell when I train and moved up to 16 for some exercises. 85kg is a lot but I urge you to be careful!
To add to what Ken says your bones are still developing too and excessive exercise during development can have a bad effect. I think there’s actually a bone that only finishes developing when you’re 21, I’ll do some searching to find out which one!
Thank you for the reply! Hmmm i tend to train two muscles everyday, then two rest days saturday and sunday, like chest and triceps on monday, back on tuesday ect…. and i also heard its more important on your diet even though training is important and not being too long in the gym; your body then starts to create a catabolic hormone cortisol which eats up your muscles, so i tend to be in the gym for 30-45 mins with intense and heavy weight compound movements!
There is so much information out there on trainging/muscle gain/weight loss etc and its hard to know whats the best way. Scientifically it will change from person to person because we all metabolise at different rates. If your way is working stick with it, if not then maybe go with your trainers in the gym as they have more hands on experience in this than me.
Diet is important but I think its more important in weight loss (ie this is the biggest role in weight loss) than it is in muscle building. You can only build muscle really by using them but eating a lot of rubbish food wont help!
Why are you keen to build muscle? Do you play rugby?
Nope i do not play rugby haha 😛 i just did a lot of martial arts in the past and i want to become a bodybuilder now and get my body bigger and stronger 😀 i tend to stay away from too many supplements because they increase risk of cancer, i stick to the old protein shake haha 😀
