      It depends. If I’m away at a science conference, they normally last about a week. Though if it’s somewhere nice you can stay for longer if you want.

      When oceanographers go to sea, the length of time away really varies, anything from about 2 weeks to 8 weeks. The ship crew go away for much longer, usually something like 3 months at a time, twice a year!
