Although I have a project that I work on alone, I am part of a lab group which includes my supervisor and other scientists who are interested in the same subjects. This works as a great support system as we can talk about our science problems, they also help me design experiments and figure out what my results mean.

I also share an office with 4 other PhD students who keep me company and make work a lot of fun.

A bit of both. Recently, I have been working a lot at night time so I am isolated and can focus on writing without distractions. Once I have finished up writing I will be getting back into the lab to do some experiments. Although you usually have a specfic project you work on, sometimes we all work together to reach a similar goal or answer. These times you need to have good commication skills so that you can get the answer quickly or don’t repeat work that someone else has already done.
