• Question: Being an oceanographer, do you ever do any work involving meteorology/space too?

      Yes! A lot of my work is meteorology based, as I’m very interested in the air-sea interface and how the ocean and atmosphere affect one another. The ocean and atmosphere are very similar in many ways,you can think of them both as fluids, but one of them is much denser than the other.

      I also do a lot of work involving space – we use satellites to measure things we are interested in, like sea surface temperature, over the whole world. This can be a very exciting part of my work, though there is usually a lot of maths involved!
