      Not that many really, as my work is strongly environmentally motivated I try not to travel too far to conferences, if there’s one nearby which is just as good.
      So for work I’ve been to Finland (once), France and Germany (lots!). In three weeks I’m flying to San Francisco which will be really exciting!

      I have only been to the states so far (twice). My area of research is pretty prominent there so it looks like that’s where I will mostly be hanging out for the near future. I am waiting for a conference to pop up somewhere unusual though, get up to some mischief. My next trip overseas will probably be to the states again in November for a big melanoma conference and also I will be heading to San Francisco too as I am thinking about working there next year.

      One of the nice things about being a scientist is that you often get to travel, though as Jarvist says you need to carefully consider the environmental cost of doing so. My research has let me travel to the USA several times, to Kyoto in Japan (a beautiful city), to Norway, to Corsica, Rome and several other places in Europe, and, my favourite trip, to Antarctica and the British base at Rothera.

      Do you mean through science or just in general? Through science, I’ve been able to go to a conference in Long Island, New York which was great especially as I applied for some funding to pay for it. But for myself, I’ve been fortunate enough to have travelled to quite a few. Holland, Italy, Austria, France, Spain, India, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Belize, Morocco. And I’m hoping to go to Brazil in a few months’ time!

      I’ve not been to many countries with work yet but I have traveled a lot.

      I’ve been traveled in Asia twice and spent a long time in Bangkok with my friend Rachel… the first time I went I spent all of my student load on a plane ticket while under the influence. It was such a terrible idea but I had the time of my life!

      I’ve also drove round Europe on a whim in my Nissan Micra. Living in a Micra for a two weeks is terrible but it was soooo much fun!

      I’ve also been to New York Egypt and Gambia and a lot of places in Europe.
