Question: What animal most interests you, by the way they're adapted to their surroundings or just interest you?

Ooo that’s a very difficult question because so many animals are so well adapted to their surroundings and I’d probably give a different answer every time I’m asked this question depending on what is going through my head at the time.

So, I’ll opt for picking an answer related to my research on the body clock. Animals that change the colour of their fur according to the time of year are quite well adapted aren’t they? As winter approaches, dark fur starts changing to white in order to be camouflaged in snow, either from predators to avoid getting eaten, or from prey so that they can stalk them more easily without being spotted! This is all processed sub-consciously in the brain by tracking the change in the amount of light every day, as days start to get shorter and they are exposed to less light with each passing day, their coat starts to turn white. The reverse happens in the spring time when days start to get longer and there is more exposure to light, their coat turns darker which helps them to stay hidden during the warmer months when there is no snow and white fur would be very obvious.
