Science is really just about trying to understand why things are the way they are, and this is often a lot of fun.
When I realised I could look at interesting questions like “what causes weather?” (and in fact, questions like those being asked here on I’m a scientist!) as a job, I knew it was what I wanted to do 🙂

I wanted to become a scientist because I wanted to know how to human body worked and help research diseases that caused people a lot of suffering. I wanted to try and help people.

I’m glad I became a scientist and I enjoy science most of the time. I hate it when my experiments don’t work for weeks and months on end. That can be really demoralizing and you start to wonder why you are still studying this in the first place. But I share an office with another 4 PhD students and we all help motivate each other. Its a great support system and a lot of fun. It is also an amazing feeling when you do get something to work and I love that rush!
